[30DSC] 30 – your favorite song at this time last year

Sunset Rubdown – You Go On Ahead (Trumpet Trumpet II)

Yes, it still qualifies as one of my favorite songs (part of the 5* gang).

Live minimalist version (black cab session). Pretty Awesome!

The album version: http://youtu.be/ZmQX8-7v7RA (a bit more powerful, although the live version really grabs the essence of the song too!)

[30DSC] 27 – a song that you wish you could play

:Ludwig van Beethoven: – Moonlight Sonata

I would probably play it each night before going to bed. So beautiful. (and yes, I would already be happy with the first movement).

Spoiler alert: this video is a compilation from the movie :Elephant (movie):. If you prefer a spoiler free video, check the second video.

Weird guy, that Wilhelm Kempff..

Haha-funny copy-pasta (YouTube comment): “I like the part where he plays Moonlight Sonata.”

[30DSC] 26 – a song that you can play on an instrument

The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army

Yeah, not really, but someone once thought me how to play the 5-6 essential chords. Thank you person whom I already forgot, for teaching me something I also already forgot.

Here’s the live version, on my favorite music DVD Under Blackpool Lights (DVD)

[30DSC] 25 – a song that makes you laugh

Weezer – Undone (The Sweater Song)

Runner up: The Unicorns – I Was Born (A Unicorn)

Because we all like funny (well written / well performed) songs, here’s both of them. Listen to the lyrics!

If you want to destroy my sweater
hold this thread as i walk away!

We’re the Unicorns.
We’re more than horses.
We’re the Unicorns
And we’re people too!

[30DSC] 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral

:The Shins: – New Slang

Runner-up (if it needs to be even moar emo): M83 – Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun

Each time I hear New Slang it reminds me of Zach Braff, a.k.a. J.D. from :Scrubs:. Scrubs and :Garden State: (the movie directed by Braff) both have great soundtracks and both deal with death.
It’s not really about the lyrics when you take a closer look. New Slang just gives the opportunity to think and reflect. Perfect for a funeral :)

[30DSC] 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding

Lou Reed – I Want To Boogie With You

Runner up: Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds – Into My Arms

Both of them have great lyrics. The first a bit funnier than the latter.

Hey, pretty baby
don’t you think you might give me a chance
Get it on with me
go down-town for some loving romance
And I know I ain’t nothing
I ain’t worth but a thin dime
But if you put your heart in my hands
I’m sure that I could change your mind
I wanna boogie with you
Yeah, I wanna boogie with you
There’s something, baby, on which your parents
both agree
And that is that they both have a
deep distrust for me
And your best friend Frankie
well, I know, your best
friend Frankie, he wants to
see me sink
And I don’t much blame him for that
he gets so useless after so few
drinks, you know, baby
I wanna boogie with you
I wanna boogie with you
Well, I know your little baby sister
she thinks that I’m a flop
Well, I guess that you know that it’s true
I spent more time at the bottom than the top
Tell your little sister
I know she wants to give me a whirl
But I don’t have the time, baby
to wait till she’s grown up, and
she’s a woman, not a girl
Don’t you know, I wanna boogie with you
Hey, I wanna boogie with you
I wanna boogie with you
I wanna boogie with you, yeah
Boogie with you
Down by the corner
We’ll be able to, yeah
